How do you clean a plumbed coffee maker?

The process for cleaning a coffee maker varies depending on the kind of unit you have. During the initial installation, your Culligan service technician will explain the process for cleaning your unique unit.

That being said, the process for cleaning a plumbed coffee maker usually involves the following steps:

  1. Empty the carafe and filter basket.
  2. Fill the water reservoir with equal parts water and white vinegar.
  3. Run a brewing cycle without coffee grounds to clean the internal components.
  4. After the cycle, run 2-3 cycles with fresh water to rinse out the vinegar.
  5. Wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth.

A Culligan-badged technician will perform a full preventive maintenance service on your coffee machine 1-2 times per year. This service, which is performed at no additional cost, will include flushing the tubing inside your coffee maker, inspecting/replacing any external tubing, replacing filters, and generally ensuring your unit is operating efficiently and effectively.

How much coffee grounds per cup do I need to brew coffee?

The standard ratio is 1 to 2 tablespoons of coffee grounds per 6 ounces of water. Adjust based on your preferred strength and taste.

What is decaf coffee?

Decaffeinated coffee, or “decaf” coffee, is a type of coffee where most of the caffeine is removed from the beans. Unlike regular coffee, which is high in caffeine, decaf undergoes a process to extract the caffeine. This allows people to enjoy the full flavor and warmth of coffee without experiencing the jitters, sleep issues, or other effects of too much caffeine.

How is coffee decaffeinated?

Coffee is decaffeinated through a multi-step process that removes most of the caffeine while preserving the flavor. First, raw coffee beans are soaked or steamed to prepare them. Then, a caffeine-selective solvent or water is used to extract the caffeine. Afterward, the caffeine-rich solution is separated from the beans, and the caffeine is isolated and removed. Finally, the solvent or water is reintroduced to the beans, allowing them to absorb any lost flavor compounds, resulting in decaffeinated coffee.

Why is cold brew coffee stronger?

Cold brew coffee is stronger because it uses a higher coffee-to-water ratio and is brewed slowly over an extended period (12-24 hours). This process extracts more coffee solubles, resulting in a rich and concentrated flavor.
